DEEPLY PURPLE are the UK's premier Deep Purple tribute band, faithfully recreating the amazing, guitar kerranging, organ rocking, virtuoso live performances that in the early 70's made Deep Purple the most exciting live band on the planet!
Every facet of Deep Purple's music is faithfully reproduced and there's more - our mission is to go beyond the straight reproduction of the songs and tap into the energy and improvisation that made each Deep Purple live performance unique. It doesn't get any better than this!

- WEYFEST, the increasingly popular music festival, returns in style this year with some big name bands boasting many huge hits between them.
Held in the wonderful 10 acre surroundings of The Rural Life Centre with it's usual attractions of exhibits of rural life through the ages, arboretum and working light railway, the festival will remain in keeping with the family friendly environment and there will be an extensive children's entertainment area with activities throughout the event.
And what a weekend it promises to be. To say we are pleased with the line-up this year would be a massive understatement; one of the most rewarding aspects of feedback received after Weyfest 08 is the genuine enthusiasm for the hitherto unknown bands that you've enjoyed, and we know you will discover many more gems this year. And as for established artists? Well, they don't come much bigger than our headline band, the mighty JETHRO TULL. Tull, with over 60 million album sales to date, marked their 40th anniversary in 2008 with another massive, sold out world tour. Weyfest looks like being one of only a few Tull gigs this year and we are truly honoured to be able to bring this legendary British rock giant to tiny Tilford. Tull will play a full concert set on Saturday evening.
There are still many artists to be confirmed, but just a peek at the confirmed line-up so far should be more than enough to have you rushing to the online box office.
JETHRO TULL * THE BEAT * OSIBISA * SPACE RITUAL * ERROL LINTON'S BLUES VIBE * FYREFLY * LEATHERAT * MUNGO JERRY * JACKIE LYNTON BAND * OTWAY & BARRETT * BLODWYN PIG * RODNEY BRANNIGAN * INTRAVERSE * RORY McLEOD (tbc) * FREE AT LAST * ROBIN BIBI BAND * OTIS B. PORCELAIN COINS- Buckley-isms of both a Tim and a Jeff persuasion thru some Idlewildean alt pop.
RAISING SAND- Singer sounds just like Rob Plant but it's a girl, which is nice, and the band are on a tight but loose Led Zep tip with some measure of groove. I'm thinking Grand Funk Railroad via Blue Cheer, an old school heavy blues rock tour de force.
SONNER- Impassioned indie pop sounding a bit like PD Heaton fronting Embrace with a little input from R.E.M. By turn janglesome and surging, and always easy on the ear.
TURNBULL FURY- Motorhead style rockings from Scotland... Heaps of Iggy and the Stooges and an overall punky approach...

From pub rock to here...
All those back in the day music nostalgia fests consuming T.V-screw yer eyes up and study the grainy film stock......Who is that band on the tiny stage?. F*ck me it's Spandau Ballet! There's Madness! The Damned, Joy Division, U2, Ian Dury, The Stranglers........
The Hope and Anchor. It's 70's pub rock/punk history is very well documented as is it's involvement with Stiff Records and Elvis Costello/Clash manager Jake Riviera so we wont bang on about it at length in this forum. Suffice to say the term legendary is no exageration.
Less is known of it's 80s squat punk era, but a valuable platform for incisive Hardcore combos from The Stupids to Rudimentary Peni was assured.
Unfortunately when recession hit London and gentrification got Islington in it's limp but persuasive grip The Hope and Anchor was sidetracked into wine bar obscurity.
However after a couple of years awaiting licences and good will Bugbear Bookings took the venue back into the frontline of the North London gig circuit in 1996 and has continued to host nights to this day, having previously showcased the likes of The Cooper Temple Clause, Hope of the States, The FutureHeads and Ash.
The esteemed chaps who now give ye ArtRocker also got involved introducing a fine selection of U.S coolsters and Noodlecore beatniks (Tortoise, His Name Is Alive et al) and co-promoting a legendary Jon Spencer Blues Explosion gig with Bugbear.
The esteemed songwriters showcase that is Big Note continues to provide an excellent contrast to Bugbear's punk-funk ethos and at Neon on tuesdays you can check out the best in punk/metal/alternativeness..
With it's low, low ceiling ,drum sound friendly brick back drop and you-can-see-up-the-singer's-nose punk rock vibe The Hope and Anchor is a fantastic gig.
And now rocking a fantastic sound c/o one of the biggest and baddest Pas in Londinium, The Hope and Anchor really is the place to be for the discerning Islington punter.

Live Band Raising Sand and Shadowkeep
Living up to their name 'Raising Sand' (a blues expression of kicking up a storm) the band have never compromised or left their roots. Crafted from a number of 'classic' influences they have forged their own assault of bombastic bass grooves, machine gun tub thumping, blistering lead and rhytmhs and thundering vocals. Get down to a show, let the music do the talking and raise a beer to salute the majesty of Rock that is Raising Sand.

- Soaring Cobham female fronted rock band Raising Sand bring their fully charged and unhinged brand of classic rock to the The Robin Hood, Sydenham Road, Guildford on Friday 8th Jan.
Raising Sand broke into the rock scene in 2009 and the band's debut album, All out War, layers TJ's heart pounding, over-the-top vocal work with arena ready rhythms to create a genre defining album chocked full of rock and roll at its finest. With the standout track, "Dirty Weekend," available on iTunes, the band can count on loads of future success. Having recently been on the Classic Rock magazine cover CD and featured on Bruce Dickenson's BBC 6 Music Friday Rock Show Raising Sand are fast gaining a reputation for their post-punk, dynamic anthems with relentless twin guitar attack and are packing venues throughout London and the South East.
Advance copies of the album All Out War are available via the bands websitewww.raisingsandmusic.com
Entry to the gig is free and support on the night comes from Guildford rock band The Retox.
Smaller than a shoebox, but busting with charisma. Bit like Michael J. Fox.

Since 1954, the famous Troubadour Club has been a hotbed of emerging talent and a leading light in excellent musicianship and live music. From its early incarnation as a folk venue, and counter-culture den of creativity, The Troubadour Club has remained at the forefront of interesting, original music and spoken word events with a great reputation for originality and atmosphere. Although now twice its original size, The Troubadour Club remains true to its roots as the private cellar beneath the café and is one of the most exciting small music venues in town.
A OWEN-www.myspace.com/aowenmusic
He was picked up by the BBC after playing at Glastonbury , Latitude, Secret Garden and Aeon. BBC describes his voice as masculine and vulnurable.
He songs are of despair, enchantment and pure rock and roll. So he thinks he may as well give it a go.
RAISING SAND-www.myspace.com/raisingsand
Living up to their name “RAISING SAND” (a blues expression for kicking up a storm) the band have never compromised or left their roots., quickly garnering rave reviews in the press and on radio (XFM were impressed enough to grant them airplay in their Unsigned Playlist) for their debut EP and their hard hitting, high octane, hair raising live shows.Crafted from a number of ‘classic’ influences they have forged their own assault of bombastic grooves .Get down to the show, let the music do the talking and raise a beer to salute the majesty of ROCK that is RAISING SAND

Eric Bell Band's 1st London show for 2 years + Special Guests Raising Sand
The band's first massive hit was Whiskey in the Jar with Eric's distinctive guitar work which he has turned into his own special anthem. The Rocker was a second big hit and is still hugely popular at live gigs.
Pete Feenstra (Features Editor) http://www.getreadytorock.com/index5aa.htm

Pete is our resident blues to rock expert and was born in 1954 in Rotterdam. Got into music in 1963 after seeing Alexis Korner on Five O'Clock Club with Ollie Beak, and then the Beatles came along!
Started promoting live music as a living as part of a mission to keep alive Real Music, or something akin to quality.
In the eighties, Pete became a theatre booker in West London and then the in-house promoter at The Shepherds Bush Empire, Mean Fiddler and Shepherds Bush Bottom Line, in the mid 90's, "before stupidly becoming an independent promoter and a sometime, eh hem, A&R and PR person for Mystic Records."
Years later, still clinging on to good music, overpriced bands and an aging audience. Supposedly writing Roger Chapman's biog. Here's to the future

-
Lower Gunstone Bideford Devon UK
(MAP)
- The Palladium Club lies in a Bideford back street, away from the commercial hustle and bustle. The bar area is reached through a dark passage, you sign in, and the vibe is tangible.Until recently the Palladium would have been described as a proper smoky little club, and it has retained the atmosphere well. The walls are lined with photos of performers, the lights are low, you know this place has history. The Club already has a strong underground reputation for hosting great music, and an impressive list of past and future bookings - see below. It is a musicians favourite too, the simple stage area is cosy and intimate and a pleasure to perform in. Regular jam nights are held along with gigs of many kinds, local bands, touring bands, individuals, and treasures such as John Otway or the Convulsions thrown in. The Palladium Club, a little known jewel in Bideford's crown, for those who love live and varied music. Don't tell everyone
